Section 504 Services

In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, students who meet eligibility requirements and are not receiving special education services will be provided services. Section 504 services are provided for students who have a physical or mental impairment that limits one or more major life activities that must be documented. A major life activity under Section 504 includes: breathing, caring for oneself, hearing, learning, performing manual tasks, seeing, speaking, and walking. Parents may seek needed assistance by contacting Mrs. Audrey Poggioli, Director of Special Services, at 973-835-1900, ext. 146. A committee made up on an administrator, guidance counselor, school nurse, and members of the resource committee will review all criteria to determine eligibility and implement a program when needed.
